In addition to being a leader in the immigrant community, Francisco is also a very talented musician. Recently he posted two songs on YouTube that he wrote and performed for the benefit of Spanish-speaking immigrants: “Defensa del Barrio” (Defending the Neighborhood) and “No Te Dejes Engañar” (Don’t Let Yourself Be Fooled). The idea is not only to entertain, but also to educate during this difficult time of government persecution.
Francisco’s younger daughter, Miranda, wrote the melody for “Defensa del Barrio”. In fact, Francisco has two musically talented teenage daughters: Miranda, who plays a number of instruments (guitar, vihuela, violin, and trumpet), and Aranza, who is gifted with a beautiful and powerful singing voice.
